DC Small Business Development Center

Headquartered at Howard University School of Business, DC SBDC provides high-quality services and programs to elevate business acumen and empower new and existing businesses. They work with entrepreneurs to help them with a range of business issues, including testing a new business proposition, shaping a business plan, investigating funding opportunities, and much more.

General Information

We serve most industries except for cannabis, gentlemen clubs, and liquor stores.

Programs and Services Offered

DC SBDC offers one-on-one technical assistance with specialized small business counselors, that includes loan application assistance, help with government contracts and procurement, and socio-economic certification programs like 8(a) Certification and HUBZone Certification. They also offer many free educational workshops each month.

Their Open Access DC program is an online portal for food entrepreneurs to find and utilize local resources with information about capital, permitting and licensing, and training programs that will help them plan, launch, and grow their businesses in the Washington D.C. area.

The Financial Literacy counseling program provides financial literacy programs for small business owners.

They also host a free e commerce platform for clients called Shop DCSBDC.
