The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) assists the Mayor in the coordination, planning, supervision, and execution of economic development efforts in the District of Columbia with the goal of creating and preserving affordable housing, creating jobs, and increasing tax revenue. DMPED pursues policies and programs that create strong neighborhoods, expand and diversify the local economy, and provide residents with pathways to the middle class.

Programs & Services
The Great Streets Small Business Retail Grant is a commercial revitalization initiative designed to support existing small businesses, attract new businesses, create jobs, and transform emerging corridors.
The Commercial Property Acquisition Fund provides eligible businesses with down payment assistance of up to $750,000 or 25% of the sale price for the acquisition of commercial property in the District.
The Downtown Recovery Grant program provides funding to businesses opening or expanding in commercial space in the Downtown BID and Golden Triangle BID boundaries.
The Locally Made Manufacturing Grant program supports local businesses that are located in a Great Streets corridor that engage in light manufacturing, by providing funding for capital or tenant improvements of commercial property with a designated industrial use.
The Neighborhood Prosperity Fund (NPF) provides gap financing for projects that attract private investment to distressed communities.
The Vitality Fund is a multi-year, performance-based incentive program designed to support companies in target industries that are actively planning to relocate, expand, or retain their physical location.
